How to play it

Situation. Cue ball at 60 (on the short rail); the two object balls sit near the opposite long rail around 50.

Formula. third rail = cue − first → 60 − 10 = 50. Aim at diamond 10 on the top long rail.

Execution. Running english (same side as the path), one tip above center, medium speed for three rails. Level cue, stroke through the ball.

Check. If the ball comes up short of 50, use less english or aim a smaller number; if long, add english or aim five units higher.

Remember. Every five units on the first rail shifts about half a diamond on the third. New or warm cloth runs longer than old cloth.

System formula

băng 3 = bi cái − băng 1. Ví dụ 50 − 30 = 20. Đánh với ép-phê thuận, lực vừa; bi cái ≈ cao 1 típ.

The classic diamond system for long–short–long rail paths. Cue ball numbers 50 at the corner, 60–90 up the short rail, 40→10 along the long rail; first rail numbered 10–70; third rail = cue − first.
